Gary and Heather Drew have been growing lupins for decades as part of their mixed farm business. After finding out about the nutritional benefits of lupins published in so many academic papers, Gary started processing the sweet white lupin and handing bags out at the local footy club to give the community a protein boost.
With positive feedback (and a few premierships!) flooding in, Gary and Heather enlisted the help of the wider family to create Lupins For Life – a company that now gives the global community that protein boost.
To improve the health and wellbeing of the community by introducing people to the nutritional benefits of Australian sweet white lupins.- Lupins For Life vision statement
Lupins are a pulse (AKA legume) grown and enjoyed for centuries by people in Europe, the Middle East and South America.
Lupins are a natural nitrogen replacer in the soil which reduces the need for fertiliser across the whole farm. We also enforce our zero waste production policy - see more below.
Lupins For Life is a true paddock to plate story – we grow and trace our produce from planting to each and every package. We’ve been part of the variety development, planted each seed, cheered on the rain and carefully harvested every paddock. Because we know what we grow, we can be confident that you’ll receive only the best.
Through our property nearby, Lupins For Life has partnered with the Department of Primary Industries for 20 years, facilitating ongoing legume trials.
The varieties of seeds we use have been bred with the specific aim of eliminating the bitterness common in many other varieties. Being sweet seeded makes them ideal for our palette and perfect for inclusion in both sweet and savoury dishes.
Lupins For Life is located at the heart of the ideal growing area for these varieties and close to the Eastern residential and commercial hubs, providing prompt and reliable delivery of our goods to you.
Acknowledgment of Country
